SunBurn 2.0.12 Update Now Available!

Hello SunBurn community!

Tonight we launched the latest SunBurn update: version 2.0.12 – available now in the Downloads section.

Combined with the previous update and newly refreshed API docs, this is a huge release, which includes:


SunBurn Editor

(prefabs, components, and placement tools in action)


Optimizations

(our 10,000 building city test scene running on Xbox with HDR, dynamic lighting, and shadows)


Enhancements

Woot! I hardly had my .11 dll in place when this already came out :)

That could solve the previous character controller issue I had :O Did you guys have internal testing with character controllers yet? I might start working on it again next week, however nothing is sure at the moment...

(btw. I thought all these things were included in .11, something must have gotten me confused)

Just something I noticed in the download page: SunBurn 2.0.12 has been around since Friday 19th 2010 !! Wow! :P

Hi guys,

The info above is for both the 2.0.12 and 2.0.11 releases (because I didn't post a 2.0.11 blog).  However you can find just the features for this release in the release notes on the SunBurn download page.

Thats a nice looking 10,000 building test screen shot and from xbox none the less, I was wondering how the framerate holds up under those conditions?

Hi Several,

The test was a bit extreme, so the frame rate was on the lower side - between 23-20 fps (at an average of 2200-2000 rendered meshes per-frame).

However it can easily be bumped up to a smooth 30fps by reducing the view-distance a bit, or disabling one of the shadow map cascades (handy new feature :).
