SunBurn 2.0 goes Gold! Framework Edition Ships Too!

Hello SunBurn community!

We're very excited to announce we've shipped the official gold release of SunBurn Game Engine 2.0!

The release is version 2.0.18.E, which we posted as a feature complete Release Candidate a few weeks back.  Since then it's proven to be very solid and is now our official gold release!


Framework Edition is Back!

As promised the official SunBurn 2.0 release includes the fully updated and still free SunBurn Framework edition. :)

Of course the new Framework Edition now includes many of SunBurn Game Engine's latest features, like:

  • Dynamic lighting and shadows
  • Physics system
  • Audio system
  • Character controller
  • Full support for sgMotion and the sgMotion plugins
  • Access to the Dojo, WinForm, and Custom Physics examples

And did we mention it's still FREE?  How awesome is that? :)


What's Next?

With the gold release of SunBurn 2.0 out, you can imagine we already have some amazing plans for SunBurn 2.1 (free upgrade, as always!) - which we'll start talking about very soon. ;)

Not to worry though!  We're still posting service updates and fixes to SunBurn 2.0, its examples, plugins, and more.  So if you find any bugs please let us know!


We also want to thank the SunBurn community for your awesome support, feedback, testing, and creativity during the SunBurn 2.0 early adopter.  You've helped make this release awesome!

Porting to WinRT is probably not a trivial task, but it is something I definitely wouldn't mind paying (and brushing up my C++) for. :)

great!!! I love Sunburn and hope it will become more and more strong.. and ofcourse what I wish from God -- Sunburn & Silverlight compatibility for web browsers :)

I download the samples and got no .sln files on it. It seems the project is the .sbproj file, but I can't open it. Searching on the site for sbproj shows nothing.

sunburn is still too hard and disheartening for newbies :(

Hi Kat, it sounds like you're trying to unpack an example for a version of SunBurn that's not installed.

As an example make sure to download and install SunBurn 2.0.18, then unpack an example for SunBurn 2.0.18.

The packages are smart enough to only unpack project and solution files for the editions you have installed (for instance Pro edition) - this is to prevent confusion with files targeting other editions.

Another possibility is that your edition is not supported by the example - for instance the HDR example only supports Pro and Studio editions (not Indie).

Hi John!

you were right, I downloaded the wrong version. However I'd recommend to give a warning in the installer telling the user that this example is not compatible with his Sunburn version. That's probably a lot clearer than leaving the user with no option to run the sample.
