Hello SunBurn community!
Today we released the SunBurn Game Engine 2.1.8 update, which includes a number of enhancements, fixes, and complete support for developing games and apps on Windows Phone 8!
Windows Phone 8
SunBurn's new Windows Phone 8 support includes all core game engine features (such as rendering, physics, components, scenes, materials, ..., and much more).
Unlike the older Wp7 support - the new Wp8 includes SunBurn's full material system and Advanced Static Lighting! :)
Like before you can develop on both the Wp8 device and / or the emulator, and can deploy to / debug either one using the same (single) Wp8 project.
Toggling between the device and emulator is a snap - just change Visual Studio's target platform in the Configuration Manager: ARM for the device, x86 for the emulator.
SunBurn Developer Hub
We've also enhanced the SunBurn Developer Hub. Along with options for adding Windows Phone 8 to your projects, the hub also generates much tighter and cleaner Visual Studio solutions.
Now the Visual Studio configuration manager:
- Only shows platforms relevant to the solution
- Correctly determines the build / deploy options for each library in the solution
Much, Much More!
We've added a ton of other enhancements, fixes, and tweaks to the release - two enhancements worth mentioning are:
- Support for relative file paths in content databases
- More thorough reference removal on Unload(), allowing the .Net GC to free more memory
