I was wondering if there is going to be any new tutorials that show step by step on how to make a game with SunBurn 2.0.18.

Hi,

I am quite a newbie for Sunburn and XNA. I am quite familiar with Unity though. Just wonder is there any step-by-step tutorial to build a complete game using Sunburn engine?

Thanks :)

Hi guys,

We're definitely planning on some more complex examples that include a full range of features like:

  • Scene setup and construction (in all current examples)
  • Scene lighting (in all current examples)
  • Physics / collision (in current Light Mapping and Dojo examples)
  • Terrain (in current Custom Effects example)
  • Free-fly camera controller (in all current examples)
  • First-person controller (in current Light Mapping and Dojo examples)
  • Character animation
  • Weapon firing
  • Score keeping

Does this sound like what you're looking for, or are you looking for companion articles that describe creating the existing examples from scratch?

Let me know if this helps!

Hi David, nobijung,

I've written a few starter tutorials on my blog here: http://dsebj.evolvingsoftware.com/

Hi John,

I think there is heaps of opportunity to improve the documentation and tutorials too, let me know if you need any help! :-)  (I'm serious)

It would be cool if there was a tutorial that showed you how to put a complete game together - or at least the framework - something like the game menu framework from the XNA team but I've found that not having something specific for Sun Burn makes quite a few things take longer as I don't have a reference point - like how do I do menu's, display scores, handle scene transitions, loading, playing video on a texture etc.

Cheers,

Sebastian

Heres my custom sourcecode starters for 3d on codeplex in which i have source code for sunburn 2.0.18 and it only has two things now but by next year it will most likely hold up to 20-50 items and I might create another codeplex page for a in-game  mission/scenario editor in sunburn by then too (advanced version of editor will be in my game and I wont be able to share source but the smaller general in-game editor will be available and open source for expansion by anyone):

I would also be very interested in some tutorials, video or written. While i have a lot of experience programming I do not have much with XNA or Sunburn and would love to see how the correct way to put something together is. For example my current goal with Sunburn is to have Avatar walking around on a flat plane! Not much I know but still its where I want to start and add a little bit by little bit as I go.

I will be doing character animation example source after I complete my physics source code and post it here:

http://sunburncustomsamples.codeplex.com/

Remember to have the full sunburn 2.0.18 engine installed to use it and have latest sunburn resource packager.

I will post many more advanced tutorials as I go along! Please anyone contribute to my codeplex project if you wish your code to be in their. In fact im working on a SQLite on xbox for databases so people can do advanced editors and really cool things.  It appears their is a c# version that does work on xbox but does need help with garbage collection issues anyone up to helping me with it?

If Not can you please add that to the list. After I learn the first fundamental stuff about  SunBurn Game Engine - Indie Edition i will upgrade to SunBurn Game Engine - Pro Edition
