Hi John,
Would be great if you could give us a bit of information on where you stand as far as SunBurn 2.0.17 development... A small community blog update would satisfy our hunger for news ;)
Thanks
Philippe
So true - I check this site everyday to see if there are updates. I wish John would release some details - We're devoted enough to get a glimpse of insight enough on the development site side I believe.
Can you advise John?
Especially after that teaser a month ago about transparencies! :D
Hi guys,
We're coordinating the SunBurn 2.0.17 update with the new SunBurn Resource SDK, a tool for building, packaging, and publishing community resources. The SDK makes it possible for resources like UjenT's awesome post processing effects to easily be shared with the community and added to your games. :)
The core SDK is completed and we're working on one issue before shipping a beta to contributors for testing / feedback. Afterward the SDK will be available in all SunBurn updates.

Sounds great John!
Awesome news, looking forward to it!
Is the 2.0.17 build gonna have InputManager for WindowsPhone 7 touch events ?Are we going to be able to attach game events to touch events ?
Hi ShadowCode,
We're looking at several ways to integrate touch into the input manager. The goal is to have a similar level of functionality and flexibility that's available when binding buttons / keys on Xbox / PC. We're not sure atm if this will be in 2.0.17, however something similar will definitely be available in SunBurn.
Let me know if this helps!
Tnx John, this was my gues to :)Its going to be nice to have flexability over the button bindings, if not in this version in the next, your tech is great and in combination with the 3rd-party(2nd party?) projects aimed on SunBurn it provides everything needed by indie developers, the WP7 game market is growing and easy and simple cross-platform support is esential to the indie developers success.Best rgd, Keep up the good work.Veso
John - I see that the new SDK stuff is out, does that mean that 2.0.17 is nearing release?
Hi holophone,
It's nearing release, but the SDK is still in developer preview to find any bugs and improvements. We're also rolling out a site update shortly to go with the SDK and Sunburn 2.x, for uploading and sharing community resources. :)
Starting with 2.0.16 / 2.0.17 we'll be distributing the official SunBurn examples through the new community resources section. :)
I'm really looking for 2.0.17 and its builtin support for partial transparencies for my next tutorial video since I'll be implementing bullets in the Ace on Steroids game.
I have 2 options now:
Logically, I rather wait for 2.0.17 since the tutorial won't be valid afterwards.
I'd need to know when approximativelly it'd be out so that I can plan when I should work on this.
i, also, have put things on hold, waiting for the 2.0.17 release.
i had alot of things to do after the loss of some close family members (a while back).. i had to go to japan to tie up some lose ends.
but, i am back, and i wish to start coding ASAP.
an ETA would be helpful.
:)
I just want that built-in terrain to work with collision so I don't feel the need to go learn some fancy physics package just to get a player-character roaming around a regular terrain populated with some objects in a timely fashion. Seems like I've been waiting for that to work for a long time now. Heheh.
dd - welcome back. I hope all is well and glad your back in the community.
madmojo - 2.017 is supposed to have a basic character controller (as it was promised a few months back by JohnK upon release - with a new full level to sample).
JohnK - can you tell us some kind of time-frame - at least we can start planning. 2.0.17 is extremely exciting and a lot of us loyal sunburn fans are waiting for it's release.
Personally - I've completed all the base meshes for my main character's in my game and I'm eagerly looking to start the textures, lighting & effects phase to start to set the overall tone and establish my integration workflow.
