Synapse Gaming Lighting System for Torque
Synapse Gaming's lighting technology launched four years ago, in the form of the Torque Lighting Kit (also known as the Torque Lighting System). Over the years, we've continually evolved the technology to meet the needs of game developers, including integrating and packaging the system with the Torque family of game engines.

All of our products and customized integrations include our powerful and flexible lighting toolkit, which allows excellent control over a game environment's lighting, and rapid lighting and rendering changes under tight timelines. In addition, each version includes unique features for developers looking for standalone or integrated technology on a variety of different platforms.

Product: Torque Lighting Kit

In 2003 Synapse Gaming introduced the Torque Lighting Kit (TLK), which broke new ground as the first code add-on for Garage Games' popular product, the Torque Game Engine. TLK offered developers and artists vibrant lighting, cinematic effects, detail mapping, bump effects, and more. Users appreciated the easy-to-use interface, which provided complete control over their game environment's look and feel, and came ready-to-use out of the box.

Integration: Torque Game Engine 1.5

In 2006 Garage Games approached Synapse Gaming about integrating TLK's technology into their flagship product, the Torque Game Engine. With this integration, developers using the Torque Game Engine 1.5.x gained access to Synapse Gaming's powerful—and newly enhanced—lighting tools.

Integration: Torque Game Engine - Advanced

Also in 2006, Synapse Gaming again partnered with Garage Games to integrate our TLK lighting and rendering technology into their latest engine, the Torque Game Engine - Advanced. The updated TLK technology provided advanced shader-based dynamic lighting and rendering.

Integration: Torque X

In early 2007 Synapse Gaming ported TLK's technology to the XNA platform, providing Garage Games with lighting, rendering, and special effects for their XNA-based engine, Torque X.

Integration: Constructor

Synapse Gaming also ported TLK's technology to several non-game applications including Constructor, a CSG-based map editor, where TLK provided lighting tools and real-time in-editor lighting previews.
